About this module
Infectious agents can have different impacts on different individuals. For example, some people exposed to infectious agents never develop symptoms, while others become severely ill and can die.
As health care workers cannot always be certain if they or a patient they are working with is infectious, infection control precautions should be used at all times. This course has therefore been designed to give health care workers an overview of the standard and transmission-based infection control precautions. It will also look at how infections are transmitted and what increases the likelihood of a person getting an infection. By understanding these key areas, health care workers should be able to minimise the number of health care associated infections in the workplace.
